Walmart+ Now Includes Enhanced Plans From Verizon’s Straight Talk

“Walmart+ Enhances Verizon’s Straight Talk Plans with Added Benefits

Verizon’s Straight Talk is taking its offerings to the next level by including Walmart+ benefits in its Gold and Platinum plan tiers. These plans already provide unlimited 5G data, hotspot, and cloud storage, making the addition of Walmart+ perks an attractive proposition. Walmart+ membership bonuses encompass free shipping, convenient home delivery of groceries, fuel savings, early access to holiday deals, and access to Paramount+ content.

Angie Klein, President of Verizon Value, highlighted the value of these enhanced plans, noting that the average American spent approximately $1,300 on holiday-related purchases last year, while Walmart+ members saved about the same amount annually.

Klein emphasized the value proposition of Straight Talk, distinguishing it from Verizon’s Visible prepaid brand. Straight Talk’s unlimited data plans start at $45/month, with the Gold plan featuring Walmart+ benefits starting at $55/month for a single line and the Platinum plan at $65/month.

In response to competition from Verizon’s Visible, Metro by T-Mobile, and other carriers, Walmart recently introduced Straight Talk family plans with unlimited data for as low as $25/month per line. Verizon is also gearing up for a robust advertising campaign featuring actor and comedian Jim Gaffigan engaging with Walmart shoppers.

While Klein acknowledged the presence of various carriers at Walmart, she expressed confidence that Straight Talk remains the leading prepaid brand in Walmart, emphasizing the strength of their partnership.

Verizon has made strides in the prepaid wireless market, notably with the acquisition of TracFone in 2021, which added over 23 million prepaid connections to its portfolio. However, it has faced challenges in retaining prepaid customers, losing over 1 million connections.

Verizon also introduced Straight Talk’s home internet service in select Walmart stores, with plans to expand further based on geographical demand and 5G deployment.

In Verizon’s prepaid brand portfolio, Total by Verizon is expanding in urban-focused areas to compete with AT&T’s Cricket and Metro by T-Mobile, while Straight Talk continues to dominate in suburban and rural Walmart store locations.

With 11 prepaid brands under its management, including Verizon Prepaid and Visible, Verizon continues to evolve its prepaid offerings. Brands like Net10, Page Plus, and GoSmart are being phased out, while growth remains centered on Total and Visible, with Straight Talk maintaining its top position as the leading prepaid brand.”
