HARMONY GARDEN TARGETS 5,000 HOMES UNDER FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S RENEWED HOPE HOUSING SCHEME

Nigeria, 30th Oct 2026 – For millions of Nigerians at home and abroad, owning a home remains a major aspiration, often constrained by rising property costs and the financial burden of paying the full purchase price upfront. The Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, launched the Renewed Hope Housing Initiative to expand access to quality housing and make homeownership more achievable for eligible Nigerians.

Through a structured mortgage arrangement, the initiative seeks to provide prospective homeowners with a pathway to ownership by spreading payments over an extended period, subject to applicable eligibility requirements and financing terms.

Harmony Garden Targets 5,000 Homes

Harmony Garden & Estate Development Limited is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to support the initiative, with plans to deliver 5,000 homes across its estates.

The project was marked by a groundbreaking ceremony at Lekki Aviation Town Estate, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The company’s participation reflects its ambition to contribute to housing delivery by connecting residential development with financing options designed to make property ownership more accessible.

Making Homeownership More Accessible

A key feature of the Renewed Hope Housing Initiative is its mortgage financing structure, which aims to reduce the immediate financial burden on prospective homeowners.

According to the programme information, eligible buyers may access financing of up to 90 per cent of a property’s value, with repayment periods and interest rates determined by the applicable mortgage terms. The programme also advertises an entry option starting at ₦5.5 million, subject to property selection and the relevant payment conditions.

By combining an initial payment with long-term mortgage financing, the initiative seeks to help eligible Nigerians move closer to homeownership without having to provide the entire purchase price upfront.

However, prospective buyers should assess the total property cost, deposit requirements, repayment obligations and associated charges before committing to a purchase. All financing remains subject to eligibility, approval and the applicable scheme conditions.

Housing Opportunities Across Multiple Estates

Harmony Garden plans to extend its housing delivery efforts across seven estates, with Granville Estate, Lekki Aviation Town and The Parliament among the developments highlighted in connection with the initiative.

These developments provide prospective buyers with options to consider based on their housing needs, preferred locations, budgets and long-term plans.

Beyond the number of homes planned, the company’s 5,000-home target represents an effort to connect property development with financing pathways that can help eligible Nigerians progress from renting or postponing a purchase towards owning a home.

Achieving this ambition will depend on implementation, construction timelines, infrastructure delivery and the requirements governing participation in the mortgage scheme.

Supporting Nigeria’s Housing Agenda

The partnership aligns with the Federal Government’s wider Renewed Hope housing agenda, which seeks to improve access to housing and create more opportunities for Nigerians to become homeowners.

Delivering this objective requires collaboration between government institutions, mortgage providers and private-sector developers. While financing arrangements can help eligible buyers manage the cost of purchasing a home, property developers play an important role in providing residential developments and supporting the delivery of housing infrastructure.

Through its collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Harmony Garden aims to contribute to this effort by bringing its estate developments into a programme focused on expanding access to homeownership.

Clear information on eligibility, application procedures, property options and mortgage obligations will remain essential in helping prospective buyers make informed decisions.

For prospective homeowners, choosing a property involves more than considering the initial payment. Location, accessibility, infrastructure, security and the overall suitability of a development are also important factors.

Harmony Garden highlights strategic locations, modern infrastructure, affordable ownership, investment potential and a secure, transparent process among the considerations for prospective buyers.

Access to major roads, commercial centres and essential services can influence the convenience of living in a community. Similarly, infrastructure such as roads, drainage and electricity contributes to a development’s functionality and liveability.

Buyers should also evaluate the total cost of ownership and their ability to meet mortgage obligations over the agreed repayment period. Although property ownership may offer long-term investment opportunities, returns are not guaranteed and depend on location, market conditions and other factors.

An Opportunity for Nigerians in the Diaspora

The initiative also presents an opportunity for Nigerians living abroad who wish to establish property ownership in their home country.

For diaspora buyers, purchasing property remotely can involve challenges relating to documentation, payment arrangements, property verification and transaction transparency. A structured housing programme may provide a starting point for exploring available options.

Prospective buyers in the diaspora should confirm their eligibility, verify property documentation, understand the financing conditions and ensure that all transactions follow the applicable procedures before making financial commitments.

Turning Homeownership Aspirations into Reality

Through its collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and its planned contribution of 5,000 homes, Harmony Garden is positioning itself to support the broader objective of expanding access to residential property in Nigeria.

The initiative’s significance will ultimately depend on how effectively its housing and financing objectives translate into accessible homes for eligible Nigerians.

For prospective homeowners, the next step is to understand the available properties, confirm eligibility and assess the applicable financing terms to determine whether the opportunity aligns with their needs and financial capacity.

With the Renewed Hope Housing Initiative, Harmony Garden aims to contribute to a future in which more Nigerians can take practical steps towards owning a home.
