In the official announcement posted on the PlayStation Blog, Sony revealed that the new PS5 model will be bundled with a horizontal stand, catering to users who prefer placing their console flat. However, for fans who desire the upright position for their PlayStation 5, sans the use of its base, an additional accessory is required. Sony is offering a dedicated vertical stand for $29.99.

What else is there to know about the PS5 Slim?

As of now, the exact method for setting up the new PS5 models vertically without the vertical stand remains unclear. The new iteration of the console boasts a significant reduction in volume, exceeding 30%, along with an 18% weight reduction for the Standard Edition and a 24% drop for the Digital Edition, respectively.

Pricing for the Standard Edition of the new PS5 model will remain consistent at $499.99. Meanwhile, the new PS5 Digital Edition will see a slight price increase, retailing for $449.99, up from its original price of $399.99.

Additionally, Sony has announced the availability of a standalone, attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, a feature that had been previously rumored. This drive will be sold separately for $79.99, specifically for those who purchase the new PS5 Digital Edition but later wish to add a disc drive. Furthermore, a new Vertical Stand, compatible with all PS5 models, will soon be offered by Sony for $29.99.
